Florida’s Emerald Coast is the kind of place that leaves you daydreaming about turquoise water, sugary sand, and laid-back vibes long after the trip is over.

Stretching along the Gulf of Mexico in the Florida Panhandle, it’s home to some of the most stunning beaches in the U.S., with a perfect blend of natural beauty, delicious food, and water adventures.

We recently spent 3 days exploring this gem — from Navarre to Panama City Beach, to the beaches of Pensacola and the iconic Crab Island — and I’m breaking it all down for you in this ultimate 3-day itinerary.

Whether you’re a beach bum, foodie, or just looking for the perfect mix of chill and thrill, this itinerary has something for you.

Day One: Scenic Drive from Navarre to Panama City Beach!

Highlights:

• Coastal beach-hopping

• Parlor Doughnuts

• Seafood feast at Harpoon Harry’s

We kicked off our trip with one of the most scenic drives in Florida — hugging the Gulf Coast from Navarre all the way to Panama City Beach. This route takes you past some of the prettiest towns and beaches in the Panhandle, like Destin, Fort Walton Beach, and Santa Rosa.

Tip: Start your day early so you can take your time stopping at the smaller, less crowded beaches along the way. Even just pulling over for a quick dip or photo is totally worth it.

Beach-Hopping Along the Way:

• Navarre Beach: Peaceful and uncrowded — the perfect spot for a morning stroll.

• Destin’s Henderson Beach State Park: Ideal for swimming and clean restrooms for a pit stop.

• Grayton Beach: Artsy, laid-back vibes and lots of character.

Breakfast Stop: Parlor Doughnuts

Located in Fort Walton & Destin, this place is a must. Their gourmet doughnuts are layered, fluffy, and downright addictive. We tried a few flavors, but the French Toast and Campfire were our favorites — flaky, warm, and full of flavor.

Tip: They also serve great coffee, so grab a cold brew for the road!

Lunch: Harpoon Harry’s, Panama City Beach

This spot is beachy, vibrant, and right on the water. We ordered the seafood bucket, and it was massive — loaded with crab legs, shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the view made it even better.

Tip:

Go during off-peak hours for faster service and a seat by the window or on the patio.

Day Two: Exploring Pensacola Beach & Dining at The Grand Marlin

Highlights:

• Pensacola Beach boardwalk

• Relaxing by the Gulf

• Fine dining with stunning views

Day two was all about slowing down and enjoying the laid-back elegance of Pensacola Beach. It’s the kind of beach town that gives you the perfect mix of tourist-friendly and local charm.

Morning: Pensacola Beach

We headed to the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk, where you can browse small shops, grab a coffee, and walk the pier. Then we set up our beach chairs and soaked up the Florida sun on the softest white sand.

Tip: Bring your own chairs and umbrella to avoid high rental fees, or arrive early to snag a good spot near the water.

If you’re into photography, Pensacola Pier is perfect at sunrise or sunset — especially when the water lights up in shades of emerald and teal.

Lunch: The Grand Marlin

Now let’s talk about one of our top meals of the trip.

The Grand Marlin blew us away with its:

• Fresh seafood

• Impeccable service

• Gorgeous views of Santa Rosa Sound

We had the fish sandwich, shrimp and grits, and dessert (do not skip dessert!). Everything was perfectly cooked, beautifully plated, and honestly, it’s one of those rare places that feels upscale without being stuffy.

What to order:

• The Shrimp & Grits: Creamy, flavorful, and unforgettable.

• Their daily fish sandwich special: Fresh, flaky, and seasoned just right.

Pro Tip: Make a reservation, especially if you want outdoor seating. The views at sunset? Chef’s kiss.

Day Three: Crab Island Adventure via Pontoon Boat

Highlights:

• Renting a pontoon boat

• Floating and relaxing at Crab Island

• Island-vibe fun with crystal-clear water

Pontoon Boat to Crab Island

Crab Island isn’t really an island — it’s a submerged sandbar near Destin Harbor that becomes a social hotspot for boaters. The water is waist-deep, warm, and insanely clear, making it feel like you’ve been transported to the Caribbean.

We rented a pontoon boat, which gave us freedom to come and go as we pleased. You don’t need a captain’s license to drive one (just take a quick safety video and basic navigation).

Tip: Book your pontoon boat in advance — especially during peak season. Morning rentals tend to be calmer and less crowded.

You’ll find floating vendors out there selling everything from tacos to ice cream..

Pro Tip: Bring waterproof phone cases, floaties, and a waterproof speaker. You’ll want tunes, and you’ll definitely want to take pictures.

This was the perfect way to wrap up our trip — total relaxation, stunning water, and a fun vibe that made us feel like locals.
