Travel Planning Tips

Five travel planning tips to help you plan the ideal getaway, whether it’s for a weekend away or longer trip.

1.) Create a budget for the trip - This is an important travel planning tip – money is usually the number one thing people argue about. So if you agree on a budget for the trip before you start booking everything, you won’t be looking at hotels or restaurants that are too expensive. Things you’ll want to budget for - accommodations, transportation, activities, and food.

2.) Decide where you want to go and how long you will be gone - we have a list of places on our phone that we want to visit. Then when we want to plan a trip, we pick a destination from the list depending on the time of year and how much time we’ll need.

3.) Plan you itinerary - Once you’ve decided on a destination - look at the top things to do in the area you’ve selected. Make a list of all the things so you can create an itinerary & ensure you see everything. Often times, you need reservations or tickets ahead of time so planning takes stress and frustration out of things.

4.) Include downtime on your trip - Sightseeing is fun, but overdoing tours and visits to historical sites can be exhausting too. Plan your itinerary with plenty of downtime - so you can relax on a beach, explore through local markets, or go for a leisurely walk.

5.) Book it - You’ve decided what your budget is, where you want to go, how you’ll get there, where you’ll be staying, and what activities you’ll be doing.

I use my notes on my phone to keep track of things for each trip & plan the itinerary.
