Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Updated: Apr 21, 2024

We spent a full day exploring this elegant, classic & charming small town with beautiful white sandy beaches.

TOP THINGS TO DO

Sea Pines - Harbour Town Lighthouse/South Beach Marina: The Sea Pines is a 5000-acre community with a resort, forest preserve and horse stables, PGA Tour golf course, marina and town center with shops. This area offer luxurious accommodations and amenities.

We enjoyed walking & driving around to look at the beautiful areas. We had lunch at the Sea Pines resort.

Outside visitors will be required to pay the $9 cash gate fee to enter Sea Pines.

Coligny Beach: The award-winning Coligny Beach Park is Hilton Head Island's most popular oceanfront park. It’s located at the end of Pope Avenue off Coligny Circle, the park provides access to miles of beautiful beach for all to enjoy. it’s VERY busy, so if you don’t like that I’d avoid this area.

• Pet Friendly

Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina: Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina is the epicenter of every enjoyable activity on Hilton Head Island, SC. Visitors looking for adventure will enjoy boat rentals, dining, tours & shopping.

If your looking for water adventures, this is the spot to go! They have 178 slip rentals & are the largest award-winning deep water marina on Hilton Head Island.

Cruises • Nature Tours • Boat Rentals • Fishing Charters

Folly Field Beach Park - It’s located off of Folly Field Road on Starfish Drive & links to this mid-Island beach location.

There’s a boardwalk that winds through a natural environment to the beach, and beach matting helps persons in wheel chairs or with other handicaps navigate across the sandy surface.

Gorgeous stretch of shoreline perfect spot to relax or walk on beach!!

Fish Haul Beach Park: MUST SEE - This beach (hidden gem) overlooks Port Royal Sound and is perfect for those seeking a quiet get-a-way for walking, bird watching and resting. The Park is 16 acres where shoreline, marshes and an observation deck. We loved this area, it’s quiet & removed from the busy visitor attractions.

If you go later in the day, the tide goes out. We got there around 3:30 & we could walk way out.

WHERE WE ATE

Quarterdeck @ SeaPines Resort:

Southern seafood favorites served in a waterfront, nautical-themed setting with outdoor seating. We got a table overlooking the water.

Wedge Salad & Crabcake Sandwich

The Salty Dog Ice Cream Shop @ South Beach Marina:

They also have full restaurant serving classic American food.

I had to get my favorite cookie, Banana Biscoff!

Hilton Head Distillery:

The island's only distillery and a craft spirits! Perfect spot to relax and grab a cocktail, or craft brew.

Hudson's Seafood House On The Docks:

Dayboat seafood served in a 1912 factory! They have the most amazing waterfront dining with live music some nights.

Unfortunately IMO, this place was extremely overrated. We waited over an hour and a half! The food wasn’t the greatest. I definitely wouldn’t go back especially if I had to wait that long.
