Sedona is an absolute dream for hikers, with its stunning red rock formations, spiritual energy, and breathtaking views at every turn. On our recent trip, we explored some of the most iconic trails: Birthing Cave, Devil’s Bridge, and Seven Sacred Pools via Soldier Pass. Each hike offered something unique, from hidden caves to natural arches and serene pools.

If you’re planning a Sedona hiking adventure, here’s what you need to know before you go!
1. Birthing Cave – A Short but Scenic Adventure

📍 Trailhead: Long Canyon Trailhead
🥾 Distance: ~2 miles round trip
⏳ Time: ~1 hour
⚠️ Difficulty: Easy to moderate
The Birthing Cave is a beautiful and spiritual spot nestled within Sedona’s red rocks. The hike itself is relatively short, but the last stretch requires a bit of scrambling to get inside the cave.
Tips for Birthing Cave:
✅ Start early—this trail is getting more popular, and the cave can feel crowded quickly.
✅ Once you reach the cave, walk to the very back and use a wide-angle lens to capture the best photos!
✅ If you want to sit inside the cave for meditation or reflection, go on a weekday for fewer crowds.
2. Devil’s Bridge – Sedona’s Most Famous Natural Arch
📍 Trailhead: Dry Creek Road (via ATV) or Mescal Trailhead
🥾 Distance: 4.2 miles round trip (or 2 miles if using an ATV)
⏳ Time: 2-3 hours
⚠️ Difficulty: Moderate
Devil’s Bridge is one of Sedona’s most famous landmarks, offering an incredible natural sandstone arch that you can actually walk across! To shorten the hike, we rented an ATV to access the Dry Creek Road
trailhead—highly recommend this to cut down on mileage and save energy for the incline at the end.

Tips for Devil’s Bridge:
✅ Rent an ATV or a 4x4 vehicle to avoid the long, dusty walk from the parking lot. (They require a $3,000 hold on a credit + rental fee.)
✅ Be prepared for a steep rock climb near the top—no technical skills are required, but it does get your heart pumping!
✅ Expect a line at the top if you want a picture on the bridge. People are generally respectful and take turns.
✅ The best time for photos is early morning or golden hour for soft lighting and fewer crowds.
3. Seven Sacred Pools via Soldier Pass – A Unique & Serene Trail

📍 Trailhead: Soldier Pass Trailhead
🥾 Distance: ~2 miles round trip
⏳ Time: ~1.5 hours
⚠️ Difficulty: Easy to moderate
The Seven Sacred Pools are a series of naturally carved pools along the Soldier Pass Trail. Depending on the season, they may be full of water or dry. The trail itself is gorgeous, offering red rock views and even a side trip to the Devil’s Kitchen Sinkhole.
Tips for Seven Sacred Pools:
✅ Parking at the Soldier Pass Trailhead is very limited—arrive early or consider parking at Posse Grounds and hiking in.
✅ If it has rained recently, the pools will be fuller and more picturesque!
✅ This is a great trail if you’re looking for a more relaxing, scenic hike without steep climbs.
General Sedona Hiking Tips:

✔️ Start early! Sedona trails get busy, and parking fills up fast.
✔️ Bring plenty of water. The dry desert air can dehydrate you quickly.
✔️ Wear good hiking shoes. Some sections require scrambling over rocks.
✔️ Pack light but don’t forget essentials: Sunscreen, snacks, and a camera for those stunning views!
✔️ Respect the land. Many of Sedona’s trails hold spiritual significance—leave no trace and be mindful of your surroundings.
Sedona is truly one of the most magical places to hike. Whether you’re chasing epic views at Devil’s Bridge, exploring the peaceful Birthing Cave, or soaking in the energy of the Seven Sacred Pools, you’re in for an unforgettable adventure.
