St. Lucia is a breathtaking Caribbean paradise, and visiting this stunning island on our cruise was an experience you’ll never forget. We opted for a private island tour to explore St. Lucia’s most iconic spots, from its pristine bays to its volcanic wonders and lush botanical gardens. If you’re planning a cruise stop in St. Lucia, here is a detailed recap of our adventure to inspire your own itinerary!
1. Marigot Bay - A Postcard-Perfect Start

Our journey began at Marigot Bay, a picturesque harbor that looks like something straight out of a travel magazine. Surrounded by lush green hills, this bay is famous for its calm waters, luxurious yachts, and stunning scenery. We took some time to soak in the views, snap photos, and admire the charming waterfront restaurants and resorts. If you have extra time, consider grabbing a tropical drink at a local beach bar or taking a quick ferry ride across the bay.
2. Anse La Raye Overlook

Anse La Raye, is a small fishing village known for its colorful buildings, friendly locals, and lively Friday night fish fry. This is a great way to experience authentic island life away from the tourist crowds.
3. Gros & Petit Piton (St. Lucia Iconic Twin Peaks)

As we continued our journey, we got our first breathtaking glimpse of Gros and Petit Piton, the iconic volcanic peaks that define St. Lucia’s skyline. These UNESCO World Heritage-listed mountains rise dramatically from the Caribbean Sea, creating one of the most famous views in the Caribbean. While we didn’t hike them (a strenuous adventure for another trip!), we made sure to stop at several viewpoints to capture stunning photos of these majestic peaks.
4. La Soufriere Drive-In Volcano & Sulphur Springs Mud Bath

One of the most unique experiences of our tour was visiting the La Soufrière Drive-In Volcano—the only volcano in the world where you can literally drive into the crater! As soon as we arrived, the strong scent of sulfur filled the air, reminding us that we were in an active geothermal area.
We then took part in one of St. Lucia’s must-do activities: the Sulphur Springs Mud Bath! The mineral-rich volcanic mud is believed to have healing properties, and after covering ourselves in the warm, dark mud and rinsing off in the naturally heated spring water, our skin felt incredibly smooth. It was a relaxing and rejuvenating experience that we highly recommend.

5. Soufriere Bay - A Stunning Coastal View

From the volcano, we made our way to Soufriere Bay, where we had another breathtaking vantage point of the Pitons towering over the deep blue waters. The bay is a great spot for boat tours, snorkeling, and just taking in the incredible scenery. Some of the most luxurious resorts on the island are nestled along this coastline, making it a dreamy place to stay if you ever return for a longer visit.
6. Toraille Waterfall - A Refreshing Natural Shower

Next, we stopped at Toraille Waterfall, a gorgeous 50-foot waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. ($3.00 Cash ONLY) You can actually step right under the cascading water for a refreshing natural shower! The cool, clear water was the perfect way to cool off after the hot mud baths. The area is well-maintained, with changing rooms and walkways, making it an easy and enjoyable stop on the tour.
7. Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens & Mineral Baths - A Tropical Oasis

Our next stop was the Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens, where we wandered through a lush tropical paradise filled with exotic flowers, towering ferns, and cascading waterfalls. The highlight was the Diamond Waterfall, a stunning, mineral-rich waterfall that changes color due to the volcanic minerals in the water. The vibrant gardens offered a peaceful escape, and we loved spotting unique plants and birds along the way.

The mineral baths at Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens are a serene and rejuvenating experience, offering visitors the chance to soak in warm, mineral-rich waters surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Fed by volcanic springs, these historic baths were originally built in the 18th century for French soldiers seeking therapeutic relief. The mineral content in the water is believed to have healing properties, making it a relaxing stop for those looking to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty.

8. Cocoa St. Lucia - A Chocolate Lovers Dream

One of the most delicious stops on our tour was Cocoa St. Lucia, where we got to learn all about the islands local cocoa-growing history. St. Lucia is known for its high-quality chocolate, and this experience gave us a deeper appreciation for the chocolate-making process, from bean to bar. Of course, we couldn’t leave without buying a variety of decadent St. Lucian chocolates, which made for the perfect souvenir!
9. Canaries - A Charming Coastal Village

Before heading back to our cruise ship, we made one last stop at Canaries, a small fishing village nestled between the mountains and the sea. This lesser-known gem offered more stunning coastal views and a peaceful, laid-back atmosphere. It was a wonderful place to take in the beauty of St. Lucia one last time before concluding our unforgettable island adventure.
Taking a Private Tour is the Best Way to Explore St. Lucia! It allowed us to see the best of St. Lucia at our own pace, without the rush of large group excursions. We had the flexibility to stop for photos, ask questions, and fully enjoy each location without feeling rushed. Whether you’re visiting St. Lucia for a day on a cruise or planning a longer stay, this type of tour is an amazing way to experience the islands natural beauty, culture, and adventure.
This island stole our hearts!
